THE BEST CELEBRITY UNDERWEAR COLLECTIONS
It’s no surprise that men’s underwear companies turn to celebrities to front their campaigns, model in their videos and endorse them by way of clever product placement. But, there are some celebs who have taken their love for underwear even further and created their own brands. We take a look at some of the best celebrity underwear collections in our latest post.
Didier Drogba is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Canadian Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact, but is best known for his career at Chelsea. He’s scored more goals than any other foreign player, and is the club’s fourth highest goal scorer of all time. Not bad at all! Not only is he an ace footballer, but he’s a humanitarian too as Didier donates all his commercial and sponsorship earnings from endorsements such as Nike, Samsung and Pepsi, to his Foundation that supports various causes in Africa.
Men’s underwear company HOM stood up and took notice of the footballer, and partnered up with him on the Drogba & Co by HOM line. The collection is made from combed cotton and spandex, and thanks to its long fibres and high quality, is softer and extremely robust. Each of the products features an ultra-soft black microfibre waistband bearing the Drogba & Co logo, with a number 11 at the base of the leg which is the number that appears on Didier Drogba’s shirt! Inside the hem of the boxer shorts is a stretch mesh which provides support without putting pressure on the leg… perfect then for any sporty man!
Love him or hate him, you can’t deny that Cristiano Ronaldo has the power to influence. His toned physique and chiselled cheekbones earned him many a modelling and endorsement contract, most famously, some would say, as an underwear model for Emporio Armani. Following in the footsteps of fellow footballer David Beckham, Ronaldo posed in a series of images for the brand’s campaign in 2010. He went down so well, and even Mr Armani said of the star;
“For me, he is the essence of youth – spontaneous, exciting and a real maverick. It is for his energy that I have chosen Cristiano to become the new face of Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear – for his youthful, exciting, and, yes, sexy attitude.
It was no surprise then that Ronaldo looked into developing his own brand, and CR7 was born! First dabbling in clothing, the underwear line was launched in 2013. Featuring boxers and briefs in bright poppy colours with contrasting panels, to understated checks and stripes, the CR7 collection was fashionably cool for sure. CR obviously stands for the footballer’s initials and 7 is the shirt number he wears for Real Madrid. We sense a pattern here with footballers and numbers…
And of course, if we’re talking about footballers and underwear collections, we couldn’t leave out the man himself. That’s right, we’re talking about Golden Balls aka Becks aka David Beckham. The sports star has modelled for many brands and collections, both solo and accompanied by his wife Victoria, but it was his H&M collection that stood out. Mainly due to the fact that he’d partnered with an affordable high street store.
He first partnered up with the Swedish brand for his ‘Bodywear’ collection in 2012 and subsequently branched out into loungewear and swimwear. The collections were a hit from the word go and expanded further in 2015 to his ‘Modern Essentials’ line which featured both casual and semi-smart clothing. It’s been featured in every major glossy, and has proved highly successful for both H&M and David Beckham. Maybe Victoria will create a men’s diffusion line and get her hubby to model for her too. One can only hope!
Finally we have Heidi Klum, who you can probably say is a bit of an odd one out in this line up. Her men’s range is relatively new, but isn’t disappointing in the style stakes. The German supermodel has been designing clothing, maternity wear and underwear for a good while now but has more recently launched her HK Men.
HK Man represents confident masculinity through modern and stylish designs. Featuring fashion forward designs and distinctive colour combinations, while using the latest technology and fabrics for superior fit and comfort. The range is quite simple and classic, with a lot of bold colours and stripes offset with a thick branded waistband.
